it’s been more than 4 years since Zumba changed my life and outlook on health and wellness…

yeah.. it’s been more than 4 years now since i traveled to Belfast, UK from Donegal Town, Ireland in May 2010, to attend Donna Giffen’s Zumba Basic 1 training! and it’s been one hell of a ride!

from being the only licensed Zumba Instructor in Manila in January 2011 to more than 600 licensed instructors nationwide to date, thousands of people are now enjoying the benefits of Zumba Fitness and keeping fit because of the easy-to-follow program.. people of all walks of life and diversity are now benefiting from this fun and addicting fitness program!

i’ve been invited to several local TV shows promoting Zumba Fitness & other Zumba Specialty programs and have been invited to many events and launches throughout Manila and provinces.. and all of them to the delight and enjoyment of all the participants!

Zumba has also given more than 600 licensed instructors the chance to learn, earn and help others get fit and healthy! the face of Zumba has been changing through the 14 years of its creation! it has evolved into specialty programs that targets specific audience and expertice.. Zumba Gold (for older active adults), Zumba Kids, Zumba Toning (with Toning sticks or light weights), Aqua Zumba (Zumba Pool party), Zumba Sentao (core program with the chair!), Zumba Step (using that ‘old stepper’!).

i know i’ve been remiss in my postings but hopefully, my photos will show you the fun exciting ride i’ve been on this past two years, including another trip to the Zumba Instructors Convention in Orlando this August…

Aqua Zumba.. The latest Zumba hit in Manila

I’ve been quite busy the past two months promoting the latest Zumba Specialty program craze in Manila, tho I originally opened classes in October 2012. But being summer and everyone is dying to splash into the pool, it was quite timely to promote it again thru local TV shows, such as GMA7’s Sports Pilipinas, Pinoy MD, Balitanghali and ABS-CBN’s Salamat Dok!

Aqua Zumba attendees have been enjoying the full benefits of this amazing water exercise coz it actually cuts the time spent for aerobic endurance, flexibility & joint mobility and muscle strengthening, all in just one hour! The density, buoyancy & weight of the pool’s water acts as your resistance, yet as a buffer and protection from any injury during the workout! It’s TOTALLY AMAZING!!
I have four (4) Aqua Zumba classes around the city at the moment!

2013 First Quarter Schedule

It’s already the middle of February, the Water Snake is up and about… where did January go?? It’s been wild the past month, having spent half of it in Sydney with my boys.. no wonder.. it felt like days had gone amiss… but no matter.. I’m slowly inching my way back to normalcy and back to my regular classes.. with new Specialty classes opening up soon too!

2012.. The year that passed… What a great one!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Where did the last two months of 2012 go? They went by so quickly that I wasn’t able to update my blog at all.. What with all the Zumba events, Christmas parties and my Sydney holiday travels!
To recap my last two months, I’ve uploaded some photos of the several events, classes & holiday parties with my various classes to journal my year end Zumba life!
I did the Balik Bukid event at Sta. Elena for the second time, where I shared center stage with some samba dancers. Then there was the Lyceum Nursing Dept day activity, where over a hundred Lyceum students attended and joined our Zumba exercise activity! And also in the photos are several of my students in different classes including a Pole exercise class with Ciara Sotto that I joined in Rockwell Club!
I apologize for being remiss in my updates.. But I do hope to get back on the saddle with more updates of class schedules and activities!

FREE Aqua Zumba Demo

AQUA ZUMBA comes to Manila!!
I will be having TWO (2) FREE AQUA ZUMBA DEMOS on 11 October (Thursday), 4:30-5:00pm and 5:30-6:00pm at the QLD Indoor Pool, #70 20th St, Proj 4 (near Bonny Serrano St), QC!
There is very limited space in the pool and it accommodates 10 people comfortably, without disrupting fellow attendees from either side… So PLEASE confirm your attendance!

Woothoot! I’m now the very first licensed Aqua Zumba instructor in Manila.. Am now also licensed in Zumba Sentao!!

It’s been exactly a month since the recently concluded 2012 Zumba Instructors Convention, which I, again, was fortunate to attend (2 years in a row now!)!! And as you can see from my collection of pix, it was well attended and tons of FUN… as well as very educational!!
I was lucky to have met my ‘El Jefe’ Beto Perez, head honcho Alberto Perlman, Gina Grant & David Topel all in one night, on my very first day at the Peabody, 2 days before the actual convention!
Lynn Francisco, my roomie, and I were fortunate to get a Club level room at the Peabody, thru the help of another very friendly New York-based Filipina ZIN, Beth Berke (a big kudos to you, Beth!!)!
I met so many new ZIN friends, Filipinas and other nationalities from all over the world! Unfortunately, not all the Filipino ZINs attending the convention read the announcement of the ‘All Filipino ZINs Meet & Greet’ at the Peabody Lobby Bar we scheduled on 8 Aug, so we didn’t get to fellowship with more ‘kababayans’. Fortunately tho, we met many of them while queuing for the opening of the Zumba shops! There is one thing all Filipinos have in common… Shopping!! (but then again, that’s what ALL ZINs have in common!)
I, finally, got the last two Specialty trainings I’ve been wanting to take since last year, Aqua Zumba and Zumba Sentao! And with these two under my belt, I’ve now completed all the Specialty trainings under Zumba, not to mention, an additional refresher of Zumba B2! WOOT!!
BUT make no mistake… These last two specialties, are not easy to master! As much as I’d like to start classes for Aqua Zumba and Sentao.. Practice practice practice will be my companion for a few more weeks! (of course, practice is the key to a successful Zumba career.. for anyone, for that matter!)
Throughout, the convention days, I also met other Zumba personalities, such as Koh Herlong, Alena Groopman, Marcie Gil, Donna Giffin (my very first ZES), Maria Teresa Stone (my Aussie Zumbatomic ZES), Michael Thomas, David Velez, Carolina Arias (my Toning ZES), Maria Browning (Aqua Zumba Queen!).. And several Zumba Jammers, including Filipino ZJ’s, Kathleen and Eilaine!
This convention was definitely different from last year’s, not only because there were 6 of us ZINs from the Philippines (the Enriquez family) that attended, thereby, making it more fun bumping into one another in the hallways; I also bonded (party-ed!) with more new ZIN friends, Filipinos and others; I was invited & participated in a ‘focus group’ meeting (making my voice heard!); I was at the Peabody, where all the action was, which contributed to the fun.. And I enjoyed all my trainings!
Would I attend a Zumba convention again?? A definite… YES!! (and I encourage everyone to attend one during their Zumba career!!)

2012 Zumba Convention here I come (again!)!!!!

I’m just so stoked for the forthcoming 2012 Zumba Convention in Orlando this August!

This will be my second year to attend the convention and I finally will be attending the specialty trainings that I want: Aqua Zumba and the new Sentao!! woothoot!! So excited to do them!!

I’m al so excited because this year, there will be other Filipino ZINs traveling from Manila to attend it, unlike last year, when I was the lone Manila ZIN in attendance! AND, topping it off, after putting up the ALL FILIPINO ZINS forum group in Zumba.com, all the Filipinos from all over the globe that will be attending, will now have a chance to ‘meet and greet’!!

Our proposed ‘meet and greet’ will be at the Peabody Lobby Bar on the 8th August at around 6-ish pm for drinks and maybe more fun after (or dinner?)… or whatever..

So, if you happen to be one of the Filipino ZINs from somewhere other than the Philippines and you’re attending the Convention in a couple of weeks.. look for the big noisy happy non-stop chattering Filipinos at the lobby bar of the Peabody on 8 Aug at 6pm! I felt ‘alone’ when I attended last year’s convention, being by myself, tho I met so many ZINs from all over… BUT this year, I won’t be coz I know I’ll be amongst so many ‘kababayan ZINs’!!

*I’ll be away from my Manila classes starting 30 July till 02 September, but not to worry coz most of my classes will be ‘covered’ by some very cool capable ZINs (thanks to ZINs Dan, Pepper, Tyn & Joie!!)
